MyFinFree Terms and Conditions
Last updated: 25 October 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and us about using MyFinFree. They say what MyFinFree does, what it does not do, what we can expect of each other and what happens if something goes wrong. If something is unclear, ask us at [email protected].
How we handle personal data is explained separately, in the Privacy Policy.
1. Who we are and how this agreement starts
1.1 MyFinFree (the "service") is run by MyFinFree ("we", "us"), a Dutch sole proprietorship (eenmanszaak) registered with the Netherlands Chamber of Commerce (KVK) under number 42197491. Address: Johan van der Keukenstraat 26, 1087 BN Amsterdam, Netherlands. Email: [email protected].
1.2 The agreement starts when you create an account after being shown these terms. Until you submit the sign-up form you can correct anything you entered. Afterwards you can change your name and settings in Settings; to change your email address, write to us.
1.3 These terms can be read, saved and printed from the website at any time. We keep every earlier version and will send you the version you accepted on request.
1.4 These terms are written in English, and the English version is the one that applies.
2. What MyFinFree is — and what it is not
2.1 MyFinFree is an online tool for private investors. It lets you bring your investments together in one place — by entering them yourself, importing them from a screenshot or from a file your broker lets you download, or connecting brokerage accounts read-only — and then shows you information and calculations about them, for example allocation, concentration, performance against benchmarks, how far your portfolio has moved from the targets you set, what your fund holdings are made of, how the companies you own are doing according to their public filings, and where your savings plans could lead under the assumptions you choose. It can also email you alerts: drift alerts for the targets you watch, and — switched on by default, and possible to switch off — alerts when a company you hold publishes a new filing.
2.2 MyFinFree does not give investment advice. Everything it shows is information about your own data and about public markets. It does not tell you what to buy, sell or hold, and it does not propose transactions. MyFinFree never assesses whether an investment, a target or a plan suits your goals, finances, attitude to risk, knowledge or experience, and nothing in it is an offer or an invitation to buy or sell a financial instrument. Targets and plans rest on choices you make or accept; default assumptions are illustrations, not forecasts. Drift alerts compare your portfolio with targets you set; filing alerts report that a company you hold has published a filing. Neither is a recommendation to act.
2.3 What-if results and projections are calculations, not anyone's actual results, and they leave out costs, taxes and the timing of trades. Past returns say nothing certain about future returns. Investing carries risk: you can lose part or all of the money you invest.
2.4 Some company views and alerts show a financial-distress band. It is calculated automatically, with no manual adjustment, by published academic default-risk models applied to the figures a company has filed and to its share-price history. The screen says so, and we name the models on request. It is a statistical estimate that can be wrong for any single company — not a statement of fact about its solvency, not a credit rating, not a price target and not an opinion on whether to buy or sell. A company that believes one of the inputs is wrong can write to [email protected].
2.5 MyFinFree is not a bank, broker or investment firm. It does not hold your money or your securities, and it has no function to place orders or move funds. Because it provides no investment services, it is not licensed or supervised by the Dutch Authority for the Financial Markets (AFM) or any other financial regulator.
2.6 MyFinFree is not a tax, legal or accounting service. For a tax return, use your broker's annual statement or ask a tax adviser.
2.7 We do not watch your portfolio for you: apart from the alerts you switch on or keep switched on, MyFinFree does not tell you about changes in your investments or in the markets. An alert can arrive late, not arrive at all, or rest on data that is corrected later. Do not rely on alerts as your only way of following your investments.
2.8 Investment decisions are yours alone, and so are their consequences. If you need advice that takes your personal situation into account, speak to a licensed financial adviser.
3. Who may use MyFinFree
3.1 You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding agreement.
3.2 MyFinFree is for managing your own investments as a private person. You may not use it to provide services to others, for example as a professional adviser or asset manager, unless we have agreed to that in writing.
3.3 One account per person, and an account belongs to that person alone: do not share it or let others sign in to it. If we close your account under section 15.2, do not open a new one without our agreement. We may decline a sign-up for a serious reason.
3.4 MyFinFree is made for people living in the European Economic Area and Switzerland. If you use it from elsewhere, it is up to you to check that this is allowed where you are. We will end access where EU or UN sanctions prevent us from serving you.
4. Your account
4.1 Give us correct information when you sign up. Your email address is how we reach you: if it changes, write to us so we can update it. You are responsible for the data you enter, including having the right to use any data about other people.
4.2 You keep your sign-in details and devices safe; we take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect MyFinFree, as described in section 10 of the Privacy Policy.
4.3 If you think someone else has got into your account, tell us straight away at [email protected]. If you sign in with a password, change it using "Forgot your password?" on the sign-in page; if you sign in with Google or Apple, secure that account as well.
4.4 If we believe someone else has taken over your account, we may lock it and will tell you how to regain access.
4.5 Use of your account by someone else counts as your own if you let them in or did not take reasonable care of your sign-in details, unless a failure of our own security caused it.
5. The information MyFinFree shows
5.1 MyFinFree shows third-party data — prices, exchange rates, fund holdings, company filings, and data from your broker and from our brokerage-connection provider — as its sources deliver it. Checking that data for accuracy, completeness or timeliness is not part of the service. Each source can go wrong in its own way: a price can arrive a day late, a fund's published holdings can be months old, a filing can be tagged incorrectly at the source, and some securities or markets are not covered at all.
5.2 When we learn of an error in how MyFinFree processes data, we try to correct it within a reasonable time. After a correction at the source or on our side, MyFinFree recalculates: past values, returns, bands and alerts may change, and the corrected figure is the one that counts.
5.3 Where MyFinFree cannot price a holding or look inside a fund, it is designed to say so rather than guess, but it may not detect every missing or outdated figure. A calculation is only as good as its inputs — including the data you enter and the data your broker reports.
5.4 Before acting on anything you see in MyFinFree, check it against your broker's statements or another reliable source.
5.5 We back up regularly, but data can still be lost. Keep your broker statements and your own record of anything you enter by hand. A deleted account cannot be restored.
5.6 MyFinFree and its emails link to websites run by others, such as filing pages on the SEC's website. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for them; their own terms apply.
6. Connecting brokerage accounts
6.1 Brokerage connections are provided through a specialised third-party connection provider; the Privacy Policy names the one we use. When you connect an account, you authorise access on the provider's or your broker's own screens, and the provider's own end-user terms apply between you and it. We never see your broker password. We may change the provider; you may then need to connect your accounts again.
6.2 MyFinFree only reads balances, holdings and transactions; it has no function to change anything at your broker.
6.3 It is up to you to check that your broker allows this kind of access to your account.
6.4 Connections depend on the connection provider and on your broker. They may be interrupted, may lag behind your broker's own figures, or may stop working for a particular broker. At any time in MyFinFree you can stop updates for an account, which keeps what was already imported, or remove it, which deletes what the brokerage sent.
7. Importing from a screenshot or a file
7.1 If you import positions from a screenshot, an AI model reads the picture (see section 5 of the Privacy Policy). This feature is only available after you have given your consent, and you can withdraw it at any time.
7.2 Only upload pictures that show your own investments and that you are entitled to use, and leave out other people's personal data unless you are entitled to share it. Preferably crop the picture to the holdings you want to import.
7.3 AI models make mistakes: they can misread a number, mix up a ticker or miss a line, and a file can be read wrongly too — for example when a broker changes its layout. MyFinFree shows you what was read as a draft. Check it carefully — nothing is added to your portfolio until you confirm it. A draft you leave untouched for 24 hours is deleted.
7.4 If you import a file your broker lets you download, such as an account statement, MyFinFree reads it on its own server with a layout it already knows. If it does not know the file's layout yet, it can learn the layout by sending the file's structure and a few sample rows to an AI model (see section 5 of the Privacy Policy). That step is only available after you have given your consent. How many layouts can be learned each month is limited, as the app shows; a learning counts once it is sent, even if the layout could not be learned. A layout learned from your file is kept for your own later imports.
7.5 Only upload files from accounts that are yours or that you are entitled to use. A file is read only into accounts you keep by hand in MyFinFree, never into a brokerage account you connected.
7.6 If your broker is not on the list, you can type its name. A name you type may be added, as you typed it, to the list every user sees, without saying who typed it — so type only the broker's name. If we add it to the list, or keep it as another spelling of a broker on the list, it stays there after your account is deleted; section 9.1 does not limit that.
8. Connecting an AI assistant
8.1 Where this feature is available, you can allow an AI assistant of your own choosing to read your MyFinFree data when you ask it to. Access is read-only and limited to your own account, and you can revoke it in Settings at any time.
8.2 The assistant is a separate service. What it does with the data, and what it tells you, is outside our control and governed by your agreement with its provider. An assistant's answer is not MyFinFree's answer, and it is not investment advice from us.
8.3 Assistant access is subject to limits on the number of requests, so that one account cannot slow down the service for everyone else.
8.4 Requests an assistant makes through your connection count as your own use of MyFinFree under sections 10 and 11.
9. Your data and your input
9.1 Your data remains yours. You give us only the permission we need to store it, process it and show it to you in order to provide MyFinFree. That permission ends when your data is deleted.
9.2 Suggestions come without strings: sending one lets us use, adapt and build on it, free of charge, worldwide and without time limit, and you are not owed payment or credit if it ends up in MyFinFree. Bug reports are used to find and fix problems in MyFinFree.
9.3 You may share screenshots of your own portfolio results for non-commercial purposes, for example on social media — but not price tables or market-data charts. This is an exception to sections 10 and 11.2. Do not present what you share as advice or as our view, or suggest that we endorse you; we owe nothing to people who see it.
10. Using MyFinFree fairly
10.1 You may not:
- collect data from MyFinFree by automated means (scraping, crawling, bulk downloading), except through the AI-assistant connection within its limits;
- copy, sell, publish or otherwise pass on market data or other content from MyFinFree, or use it to build a competing product or data set, or to train, test or improve an AI model, except as allowed in sections 8.1 and 9.3 (an assistant you connect under section 8 reading your data for you does not breach this rule);
- try to get around rate limits, security measures or access controls, or access another person's data;
- probe, overload or disrupt the service, or upload malware or content designed to manipulate the AI models;
- decompile or reverse-engineer the software, except where the law expressly allows it;
- upload material that is unlawful or that you have no right to share;
- use MyFinFree in breach of any law or regulation.
10.2 If you come across unlawful content in MyFinFree, report it to [email protected]. Describe where it is and why you think it is unlawful, and confirm that you believe your report is accurate and complete. We will confirm receipt and tell you what we decided. At present every report is reviewed by a person and no automated moderation is used; we will update this section before that changes.
10.3 To enforce these terms we look at technical usage records, such as the number of requests an account makes, as described in the Privacy Policy. We may slow down, limit or block traffic, including traffic from a particular network address, that we reasonably believe breaks section 10.1. Where this affects your account, we follow section 15.2.
11. Our rights in MyFinFree
11.1 The software, design, texts and other material of MyFinFree belong to us or to our licensors. While the agreement lasts, you may use them for your own personal, non-commercial purposes. No other rights are transferred to you.
11.2 Our data vendors license their data to us on conditions that also bind you: you may view it for your own use, but you may not redistribute it (except as allowed in sections 8.1 and 9.3), or use it to create, price or promote a financial product or index. Our data vendors are not parties to this agreement; any claim about their data is a claim against us, within the limits of section 16. If a vendor requires us to stop showing certain data, we may have to remove it.
11.3 The MyFinFree name and logo are ours. Other names and logos shown in MyFinFree belong to their owners; showing them implies no link with or endorsement by those owners.
12. Price
12.1 MyFinFree is currently free of charge. You will never be charged without having agreed to it explicitly beforehand.
12.2 We may introduce paid plans or paid features in the future. If we do, we will announce them in advance, set out the price, the payment terms and your statutory right of withdrawal before you decide, and ask for your explicit agreement. If a feature you use becomes paid, we will tell you at least 30 days beforehand, and you can choose not to continue.
13. Early access, availability and changes to the service
13.1 MyFinFree is in its early-access phase. Features may not yet work fully, may change substantially, or may be withdrawn if they do not work out.
13.2 We run MyFinFree with reasonable care, but we do not promise that it is available at any given moment or free of errors. MyFinFree runs on one server and is looked after by one person; expect occasional downtime and bugs. We try to announce planned maintenance in advance.
13.3 MyFinFree is not built for time-critical decisions. Do not rely on being able to reach it, or on an alert arriving, at a particular moment.
13.4 Support is given by email, as time allows. Problems with your broker, the connection provider or an AI assistant belong with them.
13.5 We may improve, change or remove features. If a change takes away something important to you, we will tell you in advance where we reasonably can, and you may end the agreement at any time (see section 15).
14. Changes to these terms
14.1 We change these terms only for a valid reason: a change in the law, in the service, in the providers we rely on, or to make something clearer.
14.2 We announce every change by email at least 30 days before it takes effect, with the new text and a list of what differs. Until the date named in that email you can close your account at no cost. If your account is still open on that date, the new version applies from then on.
14.3 Changes never apply retroactively. Two kinds of change do not wait 30 days: purely editorial changes — correcting a typo, updating our contact details — which may be made without advance notice; and a change the law requires by an earlier date, which applies from that date and which we tell you about as soon as we can.
15. Ending the agreement
15.1 By you. You can end the agreement at any time by deleting your account in Settings. It costs nothing and needs no notice. If you want a copy of your data first, ask us (see section 9 of the Privacy Policy).
15.2 By us, because of misuse. We can block or close an account that is used unlawfully, that endangers the service, other users or our data suppliers, that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, or that belongs to someone under 18 (section 3.1). We will send you our reasons in writing and give you time to fix the problem first — unless the breach is serious, immediate action is needed to protect the service, other users or our data suppliers, or the law forbids it. You can contest our decision by replying to that email, and you can also go to court. Unless the law forbids it, you can ask for a copy of your data before the account is deleted.
15.3 By us, for other reasons. We may also stop offering MyFinFree altogether, or end your agreement for another serious reason. In that case we will give you at least 60 days' notice by email and a way to obtain a copy of your data before it is deleted — unless circumstances outside our control, such as losing a data licence or our hosting, a legal requirement or the operator's illness, make that impossible; we then give as much notice as we can.
15.4 Inactive accounts. We may close a free account — one without a paid plan — after 12 months without a sign-in. We will email you at least 60 days beforehand; signing in during that time keeps the account open. We do not close an account with a paid plan for inactivity.
15.5 What happens next. When the agreement ends, your account and data are deleted as described in section 8 of the Privacy Policy. A deleted account cannot be restored. Sections 2.2–2.8, 3.3, 4.5, 5, 7.3, 7.6, 8.2, 8.4, 9.2, 9.3, 10, 11 and 16–20 continue to apply.
16. Liability
16.1 MyFinFree is a free information tool, run by one person, that describes your portfolio but does not manage it. The limits below are written as separate rules: if one of them does not apply, the others still do.
16.2 We are not liable for trading or investment losses, missed gains, lost profit or tax consequences, whether they follow from a decision you made or one you did not make.
16.3 We are not liable for losses caused by errors in data supplied by third-party vendors, by your broker, by the connection provider or by you (see section 5.1).
16.4 We are not liable for your broker, for the connection provider's link to your broker, for Google or Apple sign-in or for AI assistants if you choose to use them, or for interruptions of the internet or of your own equipment.
16.5 Our total liability to you for all claims together is limited to €100.
16.6 A claim for damages against us lapses one year after you knew, or should reasonably have known, of the damage and that we may be responsible for it.
16.7 If your own conduct helped cause a loss — for example skipping the check in section 5.4 — the law reduces our share accordingly.
16.8 Rows you confirmed after a screenshot or file import (section 7.3) count as data supplied by you under section 16.3, except for an error in MyFinFree's own reading of a file that you could not reasonably have noticed in the review.
16.9 We are not liable for losses caused by MyFinFree, an email or an alert being unavailable, late or not sent (sections 2.7 and 13.3).
16.10 If data you entered or imported is lost or damaged, our liability is limited to the reasonable cost of putting it back from your own records or your broker's statements (section 5.5).
16.11 The data vendors and service providers that help us run MyFinFree may rely on sections 16.2 to 16.10 if you hold them liable for their part in it, as if they had agreed these terms with you, and subject to the same exceptions in section 16.12.
16.12 Sections 16.2 to 16.6 and 16.8 to 16.11 do not apply to damage caused by our intent or gross negligence, to death or personal injury, or to claims for compensation under the GDPR. Nothing in these terms takes away a right you have as a consumer that cannot be waived by agreement.
16.13 If you break these terms and we suffer damage as a result, you are liable for it in accordance with the law, including reasonable costs we incur when a data supplier or another third party holds us to account for your breach.
17. Events outside our control
We are not responsible for failing to perform an obligation because of circumstances we could not reasonably prevent or foresee — for example a failure at a hosting or network provider, a major internet outage, a cyberattack we could not reasonably have prevented, or a government measure. We will do what we reasonably can to limit the consequences and to keep you informed.
18. Complaints and disputes
18.1 If you have a complaint, write to [email protected] and describe the problem as fully as you can. We will confirm receipt and aim to give you a substantive answer within 14 days. If we need more time, we will let you know when to expect one.
18.2 Please tell us within a reasonable time after you notice a problem — for example a figure you believe is wrong — so that we can fix it and limit any damage, and please use our complaint procedure first. This does not limit your right to go to court; the law may limit a claim if a late complaint harmed our ability to investigate — in serious cases the law may even bar it (art. 6:89 of the Dutch Civil Code).
18.3 We are not affiliated with an alternative dispute resolution body and do not take part in one. If we cannot resolve a complaint together, you may take it to the competent court (see section 19). If you live in another EU country, the European Consumer Centre in your country can help with cross-border complaints free of charge.
19. Applicable law and courts
19.1 Dutch law applies to these terms and to the agreement between us.
19.2 If you live in another country of the European Economic Area or in Switzerland, you also keep the protection of the mandatory consumer rules of that country, where they give you more protection than Dutch law. You may bring a dispute before the courts of the Netherlands or of the country where you live; we can bring a dispute against you only before the courts of the country where you live.
19.3 If you use MyFinFree for business. If you use MyFinFree for your trade, business or profession — for example for clients or on behalf of a company — rather than for your own investments, you are not a consumer. That use needs our written agreement (section 3.2). Whether or not you have it, the rules below apply in addition to, and where they differ instead of, the rest of these terms, as far as the law treats you as a non-consumer and unless we have agreed otherwise in writing:
a. Authority. If you accept these terms for an organisation, you confirm that you may bind it. You and the organisation are both bound, and it answers for everyone who uses MyFinFree on its behalf.
b. Liability. We owe you no compensation for damage of any kind, except damage caused by the operator's intent or gross negligence, death or personal injury, or claims under the GDPR. If a court still holds us liable for other damage, sections 16.2 to 16.11 apply, and we never pay for lost profit, revenue, clients or goodwill, or for claims your clients bring against you.
c. Costs of your breach. You hold us harmless against claims that others — including your clients, our data vendors and authorities — bring against us because of your use of MyFinFree or your breach of these terms, and you pay the reasonable costs, including lawyers' fees, that we incur in dealing with them.
d. Your account. Everything done through your account counts as done by you, unless you show that a failure of our own security caused it.
e. Deadline. A claim against us lapses 12 months after the event it arises from.
f. Proof. Our system records count as proof of what happened in MyFinFree, unless you show otherwise.
g. No transfer of claims. You may not assign or pledge a claim against us without our written consent (article 3:83(2) of the Dutch Civil Code).
h. Ending. We may end the agreement for any reason with 14 days' notice by email. Section 15.2 still applies to misuse.
i. What binds us. Only these terms and what we agree with you in writing bind us; you do not rely on other statements, such as support replies. This does not cover fraud.
j. Invalid rules. If a rule is invalid, only the invalid part falls away, and the valid rule closest to its purpose takes its place (articles 3:41 and 3:42 of the Dutch Civil Code).
k. Courts. Disputes are decided only by the competent court for the place in the Netherlands where we are established. Section 19.2 and the last sentence of section 16.12 do not apply to you.
20. Final provisions
20.1 Transfer. We may transfer this agreement to another person or company that takes over MyFinFree — for example a company we set up to run it. We will tell you by email at least 30 days in advance, and your rights under this agreement will not be reduced as a result. If you do not want to continue with the new provider, you may end the agreement before the transfer. You may not transfer your account or this agreement to anyone else.
20.2 Communication. We communicate with you by email and in the app. Emails to the address linked to your account count as received, unless they bounce or we otherwise know they did not arrive; in that case we also show the notice in the app. You can reach us at [email protected]; this is also our single point of contact for users and for authorities under the EU Digital Services Act, and can be used in English or Dutch.
20.3 Invalid provisions. If a provision of these terms is invalid or not binding on you, only that provision falls away; the rest still applies.
20.4 No waiver. If we do not enforce a provision straight away, that does not mean we give up the right to enforce it later.
20.5 No rights for others. Apart from section 16.11, nothing in these terms gives a right to anyone other than you and us.
20.6 Entire agreement. These terms are the whole agreement between you and us about MyFinFree. The Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal data; it is information, not part of this agreement, and accepting these terms is not consent to anything in it.
